Program Presenters:

1. David Rainwater's Musical Treasures from the Gold Rush Era highlights America's early history in folk song and melodies of early pioneers and gold seekers. The show features eight or nine essential folk instruments, and David explains the origins of each.

2. Tony Borders Puppets presents I Think I Can, a puppet show about one man's vision, Theodore Judah, who helped build a railroad across the country that ultimately led many people to come to Sacramento and to the founding of the Sacramento Public Library.

3. Rick Adams of the Maidu Interpretive Center presents a special storytelling program of Native American stories and songs.

4. ArtWorks presents When the Fun Was Free: Children's Games from the Frontier to Today. One hundred fifty years ago, kids would play with things they could create from objects found in everyday life. All the fun for the kids was in finding things, using their imaginations, and creating their own unique toys.

5. It's a Road Show: Treasures from the Sacramento Room is presented by Clare Ellis, James Scott, and Tom Tolley. The program includes a presentation of historic photos of Sacramento and examples of several rare and wonderful items held in the Sacramento Room's collection.

6. ArtWorks presents A Cook's Life - every family has favorite recipes that have been passed from generation to generation. Some are handwritten on recipe cards, and others are tucked away in old worn cookbooks that are slowly falling apart. These treasures won't last forever, and they should be preserved for future generations. The program demonstrates how to put together a collection of family recipes along with special family stories.

7. ArtWorks presents Leaving a Legacy. Explore your family history through memories, photographs, family keepsakes, collage, and bits of stories and put it all into a family scrapbook you'll create together. Bring family photos and mementos to the program, and ArtWorks will provide magazines, vintage photos, and bits of 'this and that' for attendees to weave into their own creations.

8. The Fabulous Gold Rush Sisters (Libby McLaren and Robin Flower) will tell stories, sing songs, and play instruments of the era, including the fiddle, banjo, guitar, accordion, and spoons. Audiences will be transported to California of the 1850s.
