By definition, ephemera is printed to last only a short time. The Ephemera Collection consists of advertising circulars, bills and invoices, menus, bookmarks, and more. Some pieces are colorful and eye-catching. Other items are of interest for their content—an invoice from 1855 (below) shows the cost of carriage and buggy rentals. |

Advertising "fluff" has always been popular. Hart's Cafeteria, proclaiming 10,000 meals served daily, displays a picture of the frieze at one of their locations and talks about the percentage of butterfat in the milk they serve. |
