Databases
Magazines and journals, easy to understand legal books, a collection of small business forms, and a directory of businesses and residences in the U.S. are all available in the Sacramento Public Library’s subscription databases. If you are in the library, go to a catalog computer and click on Articles & Databases. If you are at home or at the office, go to the library’s homepage at http://www.saclibrary.org/ and then click on Find Articles & Databases. You will need your library barcode and PIN if you are accessing the databases remotely.
- To find articles about start-up and small business topics, click on All Articles or Business Articles.
- For small business legal books, click on Self Help Law eBooks where you can search by book title, keyword, or subject. For example, at Self Help Law eBooks, you will find How to Write a Business Plan and Whoops! I'm in Business: A Crash Course in Business Basics.
- In the database Thompson Gale Legal Forms, click on the category Small Business.
- Reference USA, containing separate databases of businesses and residences, will allow you to create your own customized lists. You can use Reference USA to help you compile statistics and identify potential competitors and customers.
